Edwin Hubble contributed lots to astronomy. He is considered the father of astronomy because of all we know due to him. He gave us a basic understanding of just how big the universe is. Despite his contributions he never received the Nobel Prize, yet he would be awarded many awards later on in his afterlife. Some of these awards included the Franklin Medal in Physics, the Legion of Merit, the Bruce Medal, and the Gold Medal from the Royal Astronomical Society. Thirty-Seven years later and he is still being acknowledged. The Hubble Telescope, launched in 1990, is named after him. This telescope provides us with lots of knowledge of the cosmos. Besides the Hubble Telescope, other things have been named after him. These things include an asteroid, a planetarium, and a portion of a highway in Missouri.
